Your Questions, Answered

  • What is The Precision Dance Lab (TPDL)?

TPDL is a touring precision dance intensive created by former Rockettes for dancers ages 9–18. We bring professional-level precision dance training directly to dancers in their own cities.

What ages is TPDL designed for?

TPDL is currently designed for dancers ages 9–18. We hope to expand our offerings to additional age groups in the future.

I'm outside the 9–18 age range. Can I still attend?

Possibly! Every dancer's situation is unique. If you're outside our current age range, please contact us and we'd be happy to discuss your individual circumstances.

What skill level is TPDL designed for?

Our Foundations Program (ages 9–12) is designed for advanced beginner to intermediate dancers, while our Main Intensive (ages 13–18) is designed for intermediate to advanced dancers.

I've never done precision dance before. Will I be behind?

Not at all. Many dancers attending TPDL will be new to precision dance. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where dancers of all experience levels can learn and grow.

What will dancers learn during the intensive?

Dancers will train in precision dance technique, kick technique, musicality, synchronization, spacing, and performance quality. Depending on the program, dancers may also participate in mock auditions, Q&As, and mindset training.

What makes TPDL different from a traditional dance convention or intensive?

Founded by former Rockettes Jessie Irby and Danielle Wisniewski, TPDL brings professional-level precision dance training directly to dancers in their own cities. We also intentionally limit enrollment to create a more personal experience with meaningful mentorship and individualized feedback.

Is TPDL affiliated with the Rockettes?

No. TPDL is an independent training program founded by former Rockettes Jessie Irby and Danielle Wisniewski. Our goal is to share our love of precision dance and provide high-quality training and mentorship to the next generation of dancers.

Why should dancers train in precision dance?

Precision dance develops skills like musicality, spatial awareness, teamwork, attention to detail, and professionalism—skills that benefit dancers in every style and at every stage of their training.

Is TPDL only for dancers who want a professional dance career?

Not at all. TPDL is open to any dancer who wants to challenge themselves, learn new skills, and grow as a performer.

What if I don't know anyone attending?

That's completely okay! Many dancers attend on their own. We strive to create a welcoming environment where dancers feel comfortable, supported, and connected.

    Will dancers receive individual feedback?

Absolutely. We intentionally limit enrollment so we can get to know our dancers and provide personalized feedback throughout the weekend.

  • Do I need to register through a dance studio?

No. Individual dancers are welcome to register on their own.

If you're a studio owner interested in bringing a larger group of dancers, please contact us directly and we'd be happy to discuss options.

    Is tap required?

Not at all. We understand that not every dancer has access to tap training. If tap is offered at an event, dancers are welcome to participate regardless of experience level or simply sit out that portion. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where every dancer feels comfortable learning and trying new things.

    What should dancers wear?

We recommend form-fitting dance attire so faculty can properly see alignment and technique. Most importantly, dancers should wear something they feel comfortable and confident in.

    Are character shoes required?

No. If you do not have character shoes, please bring jazz shoes. Tap shoes are encouraged for tap classes but are not required.

    What should dancers bring?

Please bring water, snacks, a meal for breaks, and a positive attitude. We recommend arriving ready to learn, work hard, and have fun.

    Do you offer hotel blocks?

Not at this time. However, we're happy to provide venue information and local recommendations to help families plan their trip.

Can dancers attend if they are traveling from another city or state?

Absolutely! Dancers are welcome to attend from anywhere, and we'd love to have you join us.

    Are spots limited?

Yes. We intentionally limit enrollment to create a more personal experience and ensure every dancer receives meaningful attention and feedback.

Will there be a waitlist if the event sells out?

Yes. If an event reaches capacity, dancers will have the option to join a waitlist.

What is included in the registration fee?

Registration includes all classes, training sessions, and activities listed on the event page.

    What is the cancellation policy?

    • Cancellations within 24 hours of purchase are eligible for a full refund.

    • Cancellations made more than 30 days before the event are eligible for a 50% refund.

    • No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 30 days of the event.

    • Registrations may not be transferred to another dancer without prior written approval from TPDL.

  • Can parents stay and watch?

No. Our events are designed to create a focused and supportive learning environment for dancers. For that reason, parent observation is not available during TPDL events.

    Can teachers observe?

Teacher observation opportunities may be available depending on venue capacity. Additional information will be announced closer to each event.

Can TPDL come to my studio?

Absolutely! If you're interested in bringing TPDL directly to your studio, please contact us for more information.

Will TPDL be coming to other cities?

Yes! We are actively expanding and plan to announce additional cities in the near future. The best way to stay informed is by joining our mailing list.

How can I request my city?

Visit our Request A City page and submit your information. You'll also be added to our mailing list so you'll be among the first to hear about future events and city announcements.
